Physical Therapy
The goal of pediatric physical therapy is to assist children with special needs in achieving their maximal functional potential. Pediatric physical therapists are specially trained to work with a wide range or orthopedic and neurological conditions. Realization of a child's full potential is accomplished through the implementation, in the clinical and at home, of a treatment program designed to address each child's unique concerns. Functional goals targeted by a treatment program may include: |
Home Program
A program will be provided to establish the most appropriate manner of handling and positioning the child.
Locomotion
A program will be provided to facilitate the development of the most appropriate means of locomotion.
Gait Training
A program will be provided to maximize the efficiency and stability of a child's gait.
Balance Training
A program will be provided to maximize balance skills while sitting or walking.
Muscle Strengthening
An exercise program will be provided to increase the strength and range of motion of weakened muscles and joints.
